Clarity

Ensure that you have clarity on the reasons why you are in business, what your main goals, set targets and achievements are.

Make them visible to you (and your staff) by get them framed in quotes and placed on the wall of a central point within the building where all can see. Sharing your company vision with staff gives them a sense of belonging and understanding of what the company is trying to achieve. It sounds like common- sense, but you’d be surprised at just how many companies do not do this one simple thing.

Ensuring Success!

It’s great when the business is financially stable and riding the crest of wave, but there are always inevitable dips in profit and success, such is life!

But how does the business owner stay hungry for success and goal-driven (especially to his or her staff) h=in the face a dip in sales, profit or dare I say it possible failure.

Generally, business owners are a deferent breed, which is what makes them business owners in the first place. But let’s not forget, we are all human and the additional pressure facing business owners is the fact that they have everyone’s job and often financial security on their shoulders.

Measure

You must ensure that you measure your results regularly and consistently. Always make comparisons against previous months, quarters or over the same period and time from previous years.

Monitor

You must monitor how your results and of course success compares against the targets you’ve already set and equally as important, against your competitors.

Continue

You must continue to add reasons why. Why you are doing what you are doing? Both as a business and as an individual.

Evaluate & Reset Targets If Necessary

Adjusting and resetting targets and goals is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Big successful major corporations do this on a regular basis and is now seen as a necessity if you are going to keep your business successful.

Just think of the changes that have occurred due to the internet in the last 5-10 years or the global COVID pandemic. No business could ever survive if it didn’t evaluate or readjust to meet the needs of the ever (and fast) changing world that we are in today.
